Lip Blush

Beautiful lips. 24 hours a day.

Lip Blush is a semi-permanent tattoo treatment that enhances the natural shape of your lips — giving you full, defined, naturally coloured lips that last 2–3 years, without the upkeep.

What is it?

About Lip Blush

Lip Blush is a semi-permanent tattoo treatment that enhances the natural shape and colour of your lips. This is not the old style of semi-permanent makeup — thick, bold lip liners that can look dated and unnatural. Lip Blush is about making your lips even, creating the illusion of volume and ensuring that the colour stays put in any situation.

The treatment is subtle and buildable — it can be as natural or as defined as you desire. Whether you want a soft, barely-there tint or a more defined, full-colour result, Lip Blush is tailored entirely to your preference. All you need to do is add a little gloss and you're good to go.

Cold Sore Sufferers

If you suffer from cold sores, you must speak with your doctor to be prescribed and complete a course of antiviral medication prior to your appointment. Please make us aware of this when booking.

Darker Skin Tones

Please note that darker skin tones may not be suitable for Lip Blush due to cool undertones occurring in the skin pigmentation. Please get in touch prior to booking so we can advise you.

What to Expect

The Treatment & Healing

The area will be numbed prior to starting the treatment to ensure your comfort throughout.
The colour of your lips may appear more vibrant and intense immediately after treatment. As the healing process progresses, the colour will soften and settle into a more natural shade.
You may experience dryness, and your lips may begin to peel or flake during the healing phase. It is important to keep them moisturised with the balm provided.
A top-up session is required 6–8 weeks after your initial appointment. This is included in your treatment price and is where we perfect the colour and shape.
Lip Blush can last 2–3 years. With time and sun exposure the pigment can lighten, and an annual top-up may be required to maintain the result.
Before You Book

Please read the Pre & Post Care guide and Before You Book page thoroughly before booking your Lip Blush appointment — there are important preparation steps to follow before your session.

Downtime & Results

What to Expect

Downtime

Plan ahead — Lip Blush requires some downtime. The colour will appear much darker in the 48 hours post treatment, and you may experience peeling and flaking for up to 7 days. Keep the area dry (with the exception of the balm provided).

Keep this in mind when planning around hair washing, events and holidays. Avoid oily, salty and spicy foods during the healing phase, and use straws for all beverages.

The Ghosting Phase

Once the peeling phase has completed, the colour may appear to have completely vanished. This is entirely normal — it is called the ghosting phase and is part of the natural healing cycle. The colour will bloom back gradually over the following weeks.

No Guarantee of Results

Results vary between every individual depending on skin type, aftercare and lifestyle. This will always be discussed honestly at your consultation.

How It Works

Step 01

Consultation

We discuss your desired shape, colour and finish. Reference photos are welcome. We'll also review your medical history and check suitability before booking.

Step 02

Mapping & Numbing

We spend time carefully mapping out the shape and colour. Once you're happy, numbing cream is applied to ensure you're comfortable throughout the treatment.

Step 03

Treatment

Pigment is carefully implanted into the lips using specialist SPMU equipment. Sessions are 2–3 hours. We check in with you regularly throughout.

Step 04

Top-Up & Aftercare

Follow your care guide carefully. Your included top-up at 6–8 weeks perfects the colour, shape and coverage. Annual colour boosts maintain your results long-term.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Lip Blush hurt?

The area is numbed prior to and throughout the treatment. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or tingling rather than pain. Sensitivity varies between individuals.

How long does it last?

Lip Blush typically lasts 2–3 years. With time and sun exposure the pigment can lighten. An annual colour boost top-up is recommended to keep the result looking its best.

Is a patch test required?

Patch tests are optional for Lip Blush. If you would like one arranged prior to your appointment, please contact Penny directly to organise this.

Do I need a consent form?

Yes — all new SPMU clients must complete a digital consent form at least 48 hours before their appointment. Treatment cannot go ahead without this.

What is the ghosting phase?

Once the peeling phase completes, the colour may appear to have vanished completely. This is completely normal — it is called the ghosting phase. The colour blooms back gradually over 2–4 weeks as the skin heals from the inside out.

Can you work over old Lip Blush?

Yes — but only after an assessment. If previous pigment is too dark or saturated we may recommend saline removal first. Please get in touch before booking if you have existing Lip Blush.

How long is the downtime?

Plan for around 7 days of keeping the area dry and following aftercare. The colour will appear much darker for the first 48 hours. You can resume normal makeup and skincare on the treated area once fully healed.

Is this available at both studios?

Lip Blush is available at our Salford studio only. Please contact us directly if you have any questions about booking.
