Pre & Post Care Guide

Scar & Stretch Mark Camouflage

Your guide for pre and post appointment care. Please read thoroughly before your appointment.

Pre-Appointment

Look after your skin and stay hydrated in the weeks leading up to your appointment so the treatment area is in the best possible condition prior to your session.
Stop using skin thinners such as vitamin A, glycolic acids, or exfoliating on the area 2 weeks prior to your appointment.
Any waxing or shaving should be done at least 2 days prior to your treatment.
If you get cosmetic botox or fillers near the area being treated, these should be done 2 weeks prior or 2 weeks after your treatment.
Do not consume alcohol, caffeine or take any blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen etc) 48 hours before your treatment as this will cause increased blood flow and potential bleeding that may affect your results.
You may experience hypersensitivity and more pain during your treatment around or during your menstrual cycle.
We will not be able to needle over any blemishes, sores, and moles in the area.
For body treatments please arrive wearing comfortable loose clothing.
Do not apply fake tan to the area close to your appointment and make sure all fake tan has been removed at least 7 days prior.

Post-Appointment

Keep your gauze on for the rest of the day.
For 2–4 weeks after the treatment, you may experience the following symptoms: flaking, shedding, tenderness, dryness, itching, swelling, redness and tightness.
Avoid getting the area wet for 5–7 days and blot gently with a damp cloth if the area gets wet. After this period wash with warm water gently in the shower and avoid any fragranced soaps or body washes.
Do not expose the area to any extreme temperatures — this includes sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas etc — for two weeks.
Do not pick, scratch or rub the area or the colour will heal unevenly or cause scarring and/or infection.
After a few days the colour will gradually settle and increase in intensity over the next few weeks. Depending on your treatment and degree of scarring, you may require more than one appointment.

Do Not

Touch the area until it is completely healed with unwashed hands.
Use any makeup, products, or creams on the area until fully healed — this can pull the pigment out of your skin.
Sweat excessively for 10 days. Sweat contains salt and can infect and prematurely fade your tattoo. Salt in the sweat may also alter the colour. Moderate exercise is fine.
Go into saunas, pools or steam rooms until fully healed.
Get massages or skin treatments until fully healed.
Use exfoliants, retinol acids, or AHAs on the area — this will fade your tattoo prematurely.
Get laser hair removal on the area — this can darken, lighten, and distort the pigment.

Long-Term Care

Please NoteThere is no guarantee of results as everyone's result will vary due to skin type, lifestyle and the initial 10-day care and long-term care of your treatment.

Use at least SPF 50 or a tattoo stick to protect your pigment. Sun exposure is the biggest thing to cause fading and can alter the colour of your treatment.
Stay hydrated and keep your skin healthy.
Do not use chemical exfoliants on the area — this will cause the pigment to fade faster.
Do not laser the area (IPL etc) — some lasers may change the colour of the pigment.
